I’ll let you in on a little health secret your bosses don’t want you to know. Vacation is good for you!
Yes, that's right, you should go on vacation. Americans have some of the highest rankings for stress and depression. In a world of connecting, we don’t know how to unplug.
It's become commonplace nowadays for us to cram as much as we can into every day. We’re constantly hustling, moving, and thinking ahead. The pressure of keeping up and staying connected is also a major player to our chaotic schedules. But the fast-paced life will catch up to us eventually.
Remember from health class when you learned that the brain is like a muscle? Just as you rest after a hard workout, your head needs a rest. Make a plan to go on a vacation, staycation, or just remove yourself from your usual stressors. Explore a nearby town, try reading at a new coffee shop, or finally book that tropical getaway you’ve been dreaming about.
Just disconnect, and get out of your daily routine. It is important, so be sure to treat it that way.
Taking care of yourself mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically will help you perform better throughout the year with work, family, etc. So set that time aside to take a break, and don't break it.
